Patient Care Assistant
The Patient Care Assistant supports nurses and other healthcare professionals in providing basic patient care. The role involves assisting patients with daily living activities, personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and general comfort while ensuring their dignity and safety.
About the role
The Patient Care Assistant will be responsible for:
1. Assisting patients with bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
2. Helping patients with feeding and drinking where necessary.
3. Assisting patients with walking, movement, and transfers between beds and wheelchairs.
4. Changing bed linen and maintaining clean and comfortable patient environments.
5. Monitoring patients' general wellbeing and reporting any unusual changes to nursing staff.
6. Assisting with patient positioning to promote comfort and prevent pressure injuries.
7. Supporting nurses during routine patient care activities.
8. Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in patient care areas.
9. Providing emotional support and treating patients with dignity and respect.
10. Following infection prevention, patient safety, and confidentiality procedures.
